Nov 17, 2013 - Dressage BC Feature - Sandra Verda Zanatta High Performance Coach

Over the past few years, Equine Canada has been implementing new criteria required for coaching certification. The first revisions began with reviewing the Instructor of Beginners and Competition Coach from the old Level 1 designation. The latest revision was made to the High Performance certification criteria. The latest coach's to complete the latest High Performance certification include 3 coach's from BC. Wendy Christoff in Delta, Rochelle Kilberg and Sandra Verda-Zanatta both in Surrey are a great asset to the development of Dressage throughout the province. DressageBC got in touch with Sandra, she shared the following information about the new certification process. "The new Equine Canada High Performance Certification Process not only puts applicants’ coaching abilities to the test but, also challenges them to take an in depth look at all aspects of their current equestrian business models and rider development programs. The HP process raises the bar for coaches in all areas of coaching, training, business and rider development, which in turn lends itself to the development of competent well-rounded athletes. Among many other requirements applicants must produce documented scores of 63% or higher at the Prix St. Georges level, have proof of training horses through 4th level and coach riders competing at or above 3rd level obtaining scores of at least 63%. All scores must be obtained at EC Gold shows or equivalent under Senior EC/USEF or FEI judges and must be achieved within the previous 5 years. I completed my High Performance Certification in Ontario in February 2013 under examiners Cara Whitham FEI 5*O judge and Former Olympian Gina Smith. I was both honoured and humbled to pass my exam under such highly regarded and exemplary members of the dressage community and to have the opportunity to learn from their valuable insight. For current application requirements and a list of prerequisites it is best contact EC directly to ensure that you are receiving the most up to date, accurate information." - Sandra Verda-Zanatta NAYRC in Kentucky 2013 Young Rider - Jill Weston (center) a long time student of Sandra's (right) competed at the 2013 NAYRC in Kentucky this past season.
